System3 and CES Precision Control units get major upgrade.
System3 and CES Precision Control units get major upgrade.
Add an inexpensive chip upgrade to your entry-level 1994+ CES (Sys3) controller and transform it with 2008 features. Unheard of.....especially for less than $200!
The Full Story!
Over the past year we have introduced several major upgrades to your existing CES control systems. Some of these 1991+ controllers were marketed under the US Filter / Stranco® or Strantrol® label, and some were under the CES Precision ControlTM label. Since 2006, some were marketed under the BECSys label. Regardless of the label....they were ALL manufactured by BECS Technology.
Earlier this year BECS and CES introduced upgrades to the System5 and 5F controllers that added many modern features while removing a few remaining bugs from the older labels. We may have forgotten, however, to mention the major upgrades that have been introduced to the most popular controller in Florida...the System3 (Sys3) platform.
BECSys3, System3, and CES MR1 & MR2 controllers - The WORKHORSES!
Since 1994, the BECS / CES Sys3 “platform” has been the workhorse of the CES controller line. Thousands of unit have been installed with an overwhelming majority of them still in reliable daily operation.
Simple and easy to use.
The Sys3 platform is easily identifiable from the photos above, and is the simplest controller in the marketplace. Other inexpensive controllers utilize a complicated menu-driven user-interface (UI) that requires that you scroll down a menu tree to find out your setpoint. With the CES Sys3 platform, you merely press the “setpoint” button and change.
Some other controllers require complicated menu-driven adjustments to calibrate the controller to your manual pool test. With the CES Sys3 platform, you merely hold the “calibrate” button, use the up & down arrows, and you’re done!
Have an alarm, or out of range reading? You can read what the problem is....on the screen in plain English.....OR French or Spanish for that matter.
Versatile!
Don’t let the simplicity of the unit fool you, they are very accurate and versatile controllers. They are equipped with 3 relays. The first two are normally used for ORP feed (chlorine) and for pH feed. The 3rd relay can be used for probe clean, pH up or down (for two-way control of pH, an alarm light, etc.
The unit also monitors temperature, using a long-lasting and highly accurate digital stainless steel sensor. It will alarm you when the temperature of your pool or spa is too high or low.
It also has the most time-tested and versatile TBP (proportional) feed circuit in the industry. This automatically slows down and speeds up your chemical feed (thus making it bigger or smaller) depending on how far away from the desired setpoint your chemical levels are.
NEW UPGRADE! The best gets better!
The new chip upgrade transforms your 1994+ CES controller with great 2008 features! This is almost unheard of in today’s planned obsolescence society! The new upgrade chip gives you great new features including:
Booster Mode: A great hit with all new ozone, saline, and UV installations. DSBMTM (Dual Setpoint Booster Mode) technology transforms your 3rd relay into an integrated backup system for your primary chemical feeder. A great feature for a simple, entry level controller.
DSBMM allows your Saline Chlorinator or Ozone feed system to serve as primary, and will automatically energize the backup chemical feed system to provide only emergency (DOH Code-required) levels of chlorine so that you can maintain your pool as “Chlorine Free” or “Saline-only” as possible. It is seamless, reliable, and accurate.
Passwords: On some projects, it has been impossible to stop inquisitive minds from tampering with your “set & forget” chemical settings. The new upgrade gives you simple passwords access to lock out unwanted calibrations. If you forget your password, there is even an encrypted decoding program that will help us get you into the controller to reset a new password.
Feed Delay: Some installations require that we allow the controller sensors to properly equilibrate or “wake up” after extended off times before starting to feed chemicals. The new programmable feed delay (0-10 minutes) allows the sensors to achieve accurate readings before it allows the controller to energize chemical feeders.
Specific alarm messages: You now get a specific alarm message for each possible event, so that you can easily diagnose any feeder issue. Instead of a general “fail safe” alarm, you now get a specific pH Failsafe, CL/BR failsafe, or Booster Mode failsafe alarm. A small tweak, but a great diagnostic time-saver.
Communications: Yes you heard it right!!! In upcoming newsletters, we will release the new communications capability for any 1994+ CES Sys3 controller. You will be able to monitor the controller “live” (an exclusive feature), download and store chemical readings and events on a continuous log for months and years, and you can connect via phone line or ethernet. You can also make changes to controller settings and alarm parameters, and receive alert notification of any out-of-range readings.
CES repair and upgrade program getting rave reviews!
As you will recall in our earlier newsletter, all CES technicians are equipped with a large stock of factory fresh (not refurbished) replacement circuit boards to keep your 1994+ CES Sys3 in perfect working order. Although CES had been requesting this program for years, it wasn’t until BECS took over the marketing of their own controllers in 2006 that this program was implemented.
So far, the feedback for this program has been great. Instead of hanging loaners and waiting 2-4 months for a circuit board repair that carried a 90-day warranty....we are now instantaneously diagnosing any electronic problems and installing factory-fresh BECS (manufacturer) circuit boards that carry 2 to 5 year factory warranty. It is quicker, MUCH less expensive, and more permanent solution to the old method. Don’t be fooled by phone solicitors that claim that they can service your CES supplied controllers with new parts. They can’t.....period!
How to see if the Sys3 upgrade program can work for you?
Contact your CES rep for a free review of your existing control system, and we will provide you with all the details on the upgrade program for your CES-installed Precision Control MR1 or MR2, US Filter® or Strantrol® System3,or your new BECSys3.... all installed by CES, all warranted by BECS technology, and designed to last for many years.
This is an exclusive offer that is available only through BECS Technology, the manufacturer, and CES the exclusive BECS Florida/Caribbean supply and support agent. It is not available through mail order houses, pool companies, or other companies soliciting CES controller service via telephone.
