VFD’s receiving rave reviews, more information of CES web site.
Back in late January we ran an VFD educational article about Variable Frequency Drives, how they operate, how they can save money, and how they can pay their own way through dynamic electrical savings.
Since that time we have had the opportunity to install VFD’s in both indoor and outdoor pump rooms with great results. CES technicians have commented how complete the pre-wired units are as they contain: Line reactors, phase protection, full indicator lights, hand/off/auto (HOA) switches, bypass switch, etc....everything to protect the pump and provide maximum savings to the owner.
The customers have commented how quiet the motors sound when connected to and how much money they will save. Remember that when you can reduce the speed of a motor during “off peak” times you can achieve exponential savings. For example, when you “spin down” a motor to 80% of full speed, your “power consumption” is actually (.8 x .8 x .8) or approximately 51% of costs when operating at full speed capacity.
More information at your fingertips: To read up on CES VFD’s, simply visit the new VFD section on the CESWaterQuality.com website. It contains links to the new CES VFD brochure, and the full specification sheet for use in your new construction or retrofit project.
There is also a sign up section to help you assess if a CES VFD installation will make sense in your specific application. Simply fill in the website reply section, and we will contact you to obtain the data necessary to complete your analysis. We can also assist you in learning how to read your electric bill so that you can fully understand “demand charges”, and how much they actually cost you. You may be surprised!
In May of 2007, when we completed the article on “Going Green”, we suspected that energy savings in swimming pool applications would finally come of age. We did not anticipate that the energy situation was going to become so severe, nor that peoples lives would be so affected with energy-related concerns.
Most power generation companies are quick to note that CONSERVATION is the most dynamic energy saver in the industry. They note that good energy saving investments yield $2.00 of long-term benefits for every $1.00 spent.
Under that definition, the CES VFD is a great example of a solid energy investment. It will protect your pump investment, while allowing you to program direct electrical savings and limit costly demand charges.
CES VFD’s were a good idea in May of 2007.....they are a GREAT idea in July of 2008.
