20th Anniversary Pulsar “All-In-One” Chemical has “come a long way!”
Pulsar Chemistry is in its 20th Year. There have been many changes and improvements over the years, and the current program is the best so far....as shown in Pulsar’s recent NRPA guide listing:
Arch Chemicals, Inc., is the world’s leading
provider of water treatment chemical
and feeding equipment
for swimming pool sanitation.
The patented Pulsar® system is the only sanitation
system that chlorinates; removes organics, particulates,
and metals; boosts hardness and shock-treats the water-
all in one complete process.
Recently we installed a Pulsar System for a customer that had previously experience a Pulsar chemical system many years ago. At first he was hesitant, stating that “he had an OK experience with Pulsar” and wasn’t sure if he wanted to try it again.
A few weeks after the installation he called us and asked us why we didn’t recommend this to him earlier? He mentioned that there had been so many improvements to the system since his last go-round, that the difference in the technology was like “night and day”.
First of all, he liked all the new feeders, (P1, P3, and P4), especially the self-cleaning wash down kits, and the safety features. The last time he had used the feeders, they used to call them R2D2’s.
He was impressed with the difference in performance between the “Standard Pulsar system” and the CES Pulsar “Hybrid” treatment system. The Hybrid system uses Pulsar Briquettes, along with Purolyte Plus (non-chlorine shock in an automatic feeder) to form a symbiotic combination. He is now holding much higher ORP readings with less chlorine residual, and the water has “never looked as good”. The algae is gone, and life is beautiful.
He also liked the simplicity of the chemical stating that he didn’t have time to continually measure calcium and alkalinity levels, purchase all the chemicals, and have his staff dilute hundreds of pounds of the stuff into the pool without staining or clumping.
He said that he appreciated the fact that the Pulsar has stain and corrosion inhibitor right in the mixture and that he does not have to purchase and treat with those chemicals (which have gotten quite expensive).
Finally, he really noticed how little pH correction Pulsar used compared to his previous bleach system. He used so little acid that he could put only two gallons of acid to his 100 gallon vat, and it would still “keep up”. He commented on how little acid smell and “fuming” he had in his pump room, and how he felt it was going to keep the pump room from “rusting away”.
He says that he is spending less money with the combination of Pulsar and Purolyte Plus® than he was with his older Bleach and Acid System. Especially if he took into consideration all the other chemicals he needed to use to make the Bleach system into a “balanced water” system.
All in all, Pulsar has come a long way in the past 20 years. With the rising cost of Bleach and Acid, it has become the treatment chemical of choice among many pool professionals.
If you are having less than a terrific experience with your Pulsar system, then your system probably needs to be brought up to current standards, or your staff may merely need a quick refresher course from our technicians and/or field staff. Contact your CES rep to schedule a free on-site survey to see how quickly and easily your system can be updated.
If you’ve never tried Pulsar, or haven’t tried it in a while, maybe its time for a look. CES offers no-obligation free-trials, no-cost feeder systems, and affordable rent-to-own programs.
After all, the Pulsar System is the world’s leading provider for one good reason. It works great!

Typical Installation of a CES Pulsar Hybrid System. There have been many enhancements over the 20 year history of Pulsar. Pulsar provides chlorine, calcium, bicarbonate, stain inhibitor, and uses 1/10 of the pH corrections of some bleach. Truly an All-in-one chemical !
According to many pool professionals, the water clarity of a CES Pulsar/Hybrid pool is un-matched by any other system they have used. Look at the detail of the (orange) pool vacuum located across the 50-meter swimming pool.
