New-Style Saline Systems Growing in Popularity

Saline, or salt chlorination, systems have been around for many years. In fact some old timers claim that this is the 3rd coming of the technology. In the past, many customers had complained of high installation costs, low chlorine output, poor cell life, corrosion-related problems, and/or poor on-site service and support. Individual cells had outputs of 1-2 lbs per day, while traditional bleach and tablet commercial chlorinators are rated for 170 to 328 lbs a day with a high of 1,728 lbs a day. To compensate, installers ganged up banks of small cells, which caused installation, flow, servicing, and chlorine output issues.

Time and technology have helped resolve many of these issues. CES announces the industry leader - the ChlorKing saline system. ChlorKing info. The initial installation, while still not cheap, costs far less than before. CES reaction cells now come in clear housings so that performance can be observed, and they are now equipped with 15,000 hour warranties. Some cells now have an output of up to 25 lbs a day, up to 20 times larger that residential cells. Some  researchers suggest that ganging cells together lowers their overall output and performance. That is, once the salt water has been converted to chlorine quickly in cell number one or two in a bank of cells, how much salt is really available for chlorine production in cell number 4, 5, or 6.... and at what pH level?

Even properly-sized and installed, saline systems may not be able to keep pace with heavily-used or overloaded pools. This used to allow the chlorine levels to drop below optimum points, causing cloudy water, chloramines (smelly water), or non-compliance with DOH (Department of Health) codes. The CES method of installation has completely resolved this problem. Every CES saline system is equipped with a “Stage Two” or redundant chlorinator, and every system is connected to a CES’s control system that monitors and controls the pH, chlorine (from the Saline System), and the backup. Our exclusive DSBM (dual set point booster mode) circuitry allows the Saline System to provide its full output, but, if it cannot keep pace with the bather load, will activate the Stage Two chlorinator (tablet or liquid) to maintain DOH-approved levels. You will never be low in chemicals, nor will you have to recover from chemical-related hazy water.

Saline systems have become extremely popular in the past 5 years, due to patrons love of the softer and silky feel of the water, along with the absence of chlorine odors and irritations. Operators seem to like the simplicity of operation. and the enhanced color and clarity of the water.

Going saline has never been easier. The CES program includes a one-stop package with engineering, DOH approval, installation, start up and training, and on-site warranty administration. Your system is guaranteed to work first time, every time. The CES Saline program can be implemented using a “pay as you save” Leasing program, which means you own the system from the beginning, and can enjoy the benefits of saline chlorination for many years to come.

New Saline systems have heavy duty power supplies that are rated for 24/7 operation. They also have a clear reaction chambers with a 15,000 hour warranty.  The heavy duty power supplies, unlike most residential-grade systems, are designed for 24/7 operation at full output.

Some operators question the “true output” of ganged cell systems.
CES - ChlorKing reaction cells are easily removed for periodic inspection, cleaning, or replacement (after the 15,000 hour warranty period).
